St. Jim's is located in the delightful county of Sussex, in the south of England. Nearby is the River Ryll and the quiet village of Rylcome. The college consists of two houses, the original School House and the more recent New House. The latter is merely a boarding house, containing only dormitories, studies and common rooms. All class rooms are located in the original building with members of both houses being combined for lessons. The captain and head prefect is Eric Kildare of the School House. James Monteith of the New House is his second though the two rarely see eye to eye. There are nine other prefects to maintain order: Baker, Darrell, Dudley, Knox, Langton, North, Rushden, Gray and Webb.

Mr Richard Holmes, M.A., D.D., is the headmaster, presiding over a school of approximately 300 scholars, 200 in the School House and 100 in the smaller New House. Other masters are Victor Railton, M.A.(6th and also School House housemaster), Horace Ratcliffe, M.A.(5th and New House housemaster), Leslie M Linton, M.A. (Shell), Philip G Lathom, B.A.(4th), Hrnry Selby, BSc. (3rd), Percy Carrington, M.A. (2nd and Maths), Adolphe Le Blanc Morny (French) and Otto Gottfried Scneider (German) .
