The Elsie Oxenham Appreciation Society
and
The Abbey Chronicle
Page updated 11th January, 2015.

The society was founded in 1989 to provide a postal "meeting" point for all who collect Elsie’s books & are interested in her work. Since then it has gained a membership of nearly four hundred, & has subscribers all over the world.
The Abbey Chronicle, the illustrated newsletter of the Society is issued three times a year to members; in May, September and January. Those months have been chosen to enable subscriptions to be paid at the start of each year, after the January issue.

Articles cover all aspects connected with EJO and her work; the books, places and people. Space permitting book reviews, books for sale, outings, local meetings, forthcoming dance weekends and news of the overseas EJO Societies are all included.

Outings are arranged to sites which EJO used in the books. Some areas have local meetings so far these are held in Sussex, Avon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Scotland, South Wales, Reading, York and the South Midlands on a fairly regular basis. Also in Devon, every August at the home of the founding editor, to coincide with the Sidmouth Folk Festival.

The Society runs a postal library from which members can borrow all except the most common EJO titles as well early copies of the Chronicle and many items of related interest.
