Pamela Brown British childrens
author. Her first novel, The Swish of the Curtain (1941),
begun when she was 14, tells the story of a young
peoples theatre company. With her earnings from it,
she trained as an actress at the Royal Academy of
Dramatic Art, and worked on the professional stage as
Mela Brown, to avoid confusion with another
actress of the same name. She wrote several sequels to
her first book, and other childrens novels; for
some years she produced children's programmes for BBC
television. |
